The Gynocular Portable Colposcope – an amazing technological breakthrough in being able to conduct precision women’s health care examinations in the remote Himalayas.
Dr Quek Swee Chong has been in consultation with the designers of a remarkable new portable, battery powered colposcope branded by the name of Gynocular. Manufactured by the Gynius Company in Sweden, it can replace the heavy floor standing model colposcopes that have been the industry norm for decades. It could provide The Himalayan Health Project’s medical teams with an invaluable tool to be able to take to the remotest regions of the Himalayas and conduct accurate internal examinations. It’s camera attachment will also enable us to send high resolution images of serious cases of disease and injury to our international gynecological consultants for advice and instruction for appropriate treatment. Dr Quek Swee Chong will be bringing one of the units to Ladakh for field testing during his upcoming women’s health care expedition to Ladakh May 16 > 27, 2015. If the Gynocular works as well as we anticipate, then we will be securing at least two of these units for full time use in Ladakh.
Please have a look at the self-explanatory video below. Anyone wishing to purchase and donate one of these wonderful diagnostic tools to the Himalayan Health Project would actively enable us to quite literally save the lives of women in Ladakh who are in developing stages of cervical cancer.
